2 more finals

Haven't been writing so many month, and suddenly this posting.
Well, usually people are studying harder during the finanl exam week.
It does not applicable to me. I don't know why I don't study as hard as regular semester week, but I think one reason would be when I was young my grandpa told me if you are really smart, you don't study during the final exam week.
In a way, this is true. since there is no more additional subject (topic) to cover for the exam, at that point, I should know all the material and must be able to answer the all questions of a final exam.
But this statement is true with the premises of I study hard during the regualr semester.

SOX's 5th Birthday!!!

SOX has been enforced for almost 5 years.
Right after the Enron and World Com's scandals, I feel other publically traded companies adjusted very smoothly to the SOX. Even though the cost they incurred due to the SOX is astronomical, they handled very well.
Furthermore, all the Big four managed very well for the rapid demand growth of all the new tasks related to the SOX.

Because of the growth, those companies' turnover rate surged from 10% to close to 20% which is very high compare to other industries. Therefore, even for the Big Four, the cost they incurred is astronomical. Moreover, what they lost for the SOX is not just money; it is human resources (Human Assets). It is critical to keep the retention rate high. Loosing Human Asset might not affect immediate company's sales, but it will definitely affect the company's sales in near future.

Well, I went to OCC first, and get a study sheet for final.

And 12 O’clock, Accounting final started.

Then from 3:30, Finance final….

Then 7O’clock, Human Resource management final….

Tired…..

But at least some of the classes are done..

Another week, then I have a week off.

Can’t wait.

MY TRANSITION YEAR

I've been waiting this day for so long.

Yes. No more class for this semester!!!

I have three final exams on Friday which starts at noon and ends at 10P.M.

I am sure that I'm going to be so exhausted after the exams.

I cannot complain caz this is what I chose and knew that this is going to be happen.

But after this semester, I am going to take 2 classes on spring semester (short semester), 4 classes in fall semester, 2 classes in winter semester, and done!

It's going to be so much easier.

Well, "done" means I need to get a job. Woo, so scary.

Am I ready to set sail on high waves?

Nah, not yet, but I will be when the time is coming.

First, I will study hard for CFA and pass the first level.

Oh, I am planning to go to Boston in mid November for Boston Career Fair.

I've never been to Boston, so I'm so excited even though I might not be able to see much. It's like whenever the place is new for me, I get excited caz just simply it's "NEW."

Anyway, This one year would be my transition year since I will graduate university and be a 社会人 means person who contribute to his/her society. Essentially, it means start working and no more long-holiday like students get.

Well, I guess it is about the time since many of my ex-classmates have been working for at least a few years already, and I haven't working for all these years.

Anyways, I will be get ready but I'd better to focus on studying for now.

Firehouse Dog

This one was written a week ago and I didn't finish it until today....

Well, this won’t be long one, but the most important thing is not how much I write, but how often I write.

Anyway, I went to watch movie this Tuesday. I watched “firehouse dog.” It was two or three thumbs up movie.

I almost cried….. I definitely recommend everyone to see this movie.

The story starts at Movie City Holly Wood. There is a very famous movie dog Rexx, and he fell from an airplane during the shooting his newest movie. Of course, accidentally…

Unluckily, his trademark forehead hair is gone, so nobody noticed that he is a famous “Rexx” anymore.

One day, Rexx got trapped in a fire and couldn’t escape. The small town firefighter team, called dogpatch, rescued him.

After this, maybe you can imagine…. He became a member of the team as a firehouse dog.

You can read more detailed one in yahoo movie. (http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1809233860/details)

Good movie.

You should watch it.

I just thought that even though I don’t write my blog so often, whenever I write my blog, it’s always about Finance or Accounting….

Well, doesn’t mean I would change my stance, but I guess sometimes, I should write something other than those business topics.

Last Wednesday, I read News about Columbia University. The school gets over 400 million dollars gift from a media entrepreneur John W. Kluge.

Simply, I thought if I went to Columbia University and pursued masters, then it would be much easier to receive some kind of scholarship(s).

I’ve been in US for more than 5 years now and from the beginning, my parents FULLY supported me.

Even though I am receiving some scholarships, but still I am an INTERNATIONAL STUDENT and paying twice or three times higher tuition than residents.

Therefore, they won’t have much more money left in their pocket after I attain my bachelor degree.

Ever since I move to Detroit, the tuition difference or rather I would call INTRNATIONAL STUDENT discrimination was considerably better than when I was in Los Angeles.

I really want to go to grad school within this 5years or so but don’t want my parents to financially support me anymore because I want them to enjoy their retirement.

Anyway, the choices are either I pay the tuition which is approximately $45,000 annually or get a decent job with BIG company and ask for support for my education.

Both choices are not realistic right now, but one thing I can start preparing for my ROAD to grad school, which is study for GMAT and take GMAT before I graduate.

This summer, I will study for both CFA and GMAT. Hope I would be a bookworm instead of being bookwarm.

Registered

Ok. I registered for CFA Exam.
Now, I just need to study very hard in order to pass.
I will sit for the exam on December 1st, so I still got quite long time.
anyway, I also purchased Schweser CFA study note.
I don't think I can really start studying for CFA right now, but I definitely start studying right after this semester.

oh, by the way, I belong to this business professional fraternity called Beta Alpha Psi.
and there was a election and I was elected as a TREASURER!!!
Money man..... I am in charge of every dollar comes in and goes out.
in a way, I have more say to everyone, don't I.

I totally forgot to talk about the Beta Alpha Psi's Regional Meeting....
But I am too lazy to write about it right now caz it's gonna be pretty long one, so please wait a bit.

CFA

I haven't been posting so long. How have you been?
I have been working so hard for my classes so didn't have time to write something for the blog...
I guess I had time to write something before this too, but simply I didn't feel like it or didn't have any topic to write about it....
anyway, I decided one thing. I will take CFA EXAM this December.....
CFA EXAM is Chartered Financial Analyst EXAM. it's not well recognized as much as CPA, but CFA designation is kind of must have for a financial analyst...
The CFA EXAM consists of three levels and you need to pass first level in order to take next one. therefore, I'm planning to take first level on this coming December and next level on June 08. (well, I'm already assuming that I'm going to pass the first level. :P)
I'm going to graduate MAY 08, so I have time for studying it.

I've been reading many Investment Bankers' blogs and these blogs motivated me so much.
Through my study, I noticed in order to success I really need to know how to communicate as well as how to read numbers.

Wish everyone has enthusiasm, courage as well as a little bit of support to step up for your career.
Good Luck

Back to School

Well, after three weeks of break, I don't want to go back to school.
I guess because I feel that I haven't done anything yet.
Even my GMAT study, I have finished first section but haven't been starting other four sections yet....
Although I enjoyed Christmas and New Year Eve, that doesn't mean I am fully enjoyed my holiday....

Anyway, tomorrow school starts....
I am taking 7 classes again.... lol
ACC311
FIN 416
FIN 417
FIN 418
ORG 331
MUSIC HISTORY
US HISTORY

I am assuming that this semester will be better than last semester since I have 2 Gen. Ed. with Wednesday off....

Good Luck me, you, and everyone!!! lol
